More Bangkok Notes

[Scott:] Nicholas has had fun riding the paddle boats at Lumpini park. There are Kimodo dragons everywhere, swimming in the lake and sunning themselves on the side.

A few days ago, I took Nicholas to Ocean World, an indoor aquarium in the shopping district, while Ying went out with her friends. We saw sharks, jellyfish, and rays, but Nicholas likes turtles the most. He requested a picture with the turtles.

After Ocean World, we went to Suan Lum Night Bazaar, which has a big food court with entertainment. We wandered around the night market a little and did some shopping.

Yesterday, we took Nicholas to Wat Po, where Ying had her biannual Thai massage. On the way there, the driver was complaining about having been stuck in a traffic jam all morning and not being able to make any money. The traffic jam was caused by a protest requesting the UK government to extradite Thaksin, the former prime minister of Thailand. Thaksin was deposed in a military coup in late 2006, and he fled to Britain a week ago to avoid facing criminal charges in Thailand. On the way home from Wat Po, we saw this billboard erected in front of the British Embassy by the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD).

We connected with Kat and her family for a little while. The man holding the baby is her husband Tii, and the baby is Kat and Tii's son Danny. The men between Tii and me are Tii's brother and father.
